The NetDCU3 is not only a single board computer
with compact measurements and high computing power, the NetDCU3
is rather a complete system consisting of hardware and operating
system, where the user can immediately begin writing applications.
Developing drivers or compiling the kernel belongs to the
past. The hardware was designed for the industrial environment,
that means robust connectors, a long product life cycle and
security mechanisms like hardware watchdog and error correction.
Interfacing to other systems is done via Ethernet or RS232.
And all common graphic LCD displays can be connected directly
and straightforward to the NetDCU3. |

| By using the provided capabilities for touch panel
and matrix keyboard, the user interface can be realized very cost-effectively.
Standard operating systems like Embedded Linux and Windows CE assure
compatibility to other systems and a large functional scope. Thus
applications in machines or measurement instruments as well as info
systems (POS/POI) or terminals (Thin Client) are possible. The NetDCU3
is also suited for users of the DCUL3/L4 devices who require a connection
to the Ethernet or need more computing power because the NetDCU3 is
pin compatible to that product family. |

Embedded Linux
This variant of the NetDCU3 has a full-featured Linux kernel on-board,
including a graphic user interface. Therefore the NetDCU3 is immediately
usable as a stand-alone Linux computer. For developing application
software, the NetDCU3 is connected via Ethernet to a PC. Whether this
PC runs under Linux or Windows does not matter because the development
environment is available for both systems. It consists of a graphical
front end and a comprehensive set of tools, libraries and system utilities.
