PicoCOM2
PicoCOM2 provides the processing power of 32 bit CPU combined with comfort and functions of Windows Embedded CE for a price as usual as 8/16 Bit µP-systems.

This compact module is suitable for applications in hand-held products (40mm x 50mm) with QVGA display (STN, CSTN and TFT also) in industry (-20°C up to +85°C also available) and medical devices. An easy way to upgrade existing equipment with display (320x240), USB (memory-stick/active-sync), Ethernet (FTP/HTTP/Telnet Server), CAN-Bus and Audio (VoIP/WAV/MP3). Based on ARM9-technology a module with OS on area of only 20cm² (40mm x 50mm).

The new PicoCOM family from F & S offers the customer an small and low-cost communication unit. An important objective was, to offer many standardized interfaces supported by the available OS. Therefore the user can realize his communication jobs in software without wide knowledge of hardware. Also is easy to integrate this module in an existing hardware. For this reason the complete power-management (power supply / reset) is provided on the boards. The PicoCOM modules are using common 80-pin connector. User have to add the necessary driver components for the requested interfaces only. All modules of this family are using the identical connector and the same dimensions (40mm x 50mm). The pin assignment of the important interfaces like Ethernet, USB,… is fixed. Thus an upgrade to an newer module is possible.

For a quick and easy start we offer a starter-kit (PicoCOM2, baseboard, documentation and software).

Also a lot of display drivers are available.

Windows CE

The PicoCOM2 uses Windows Embedded CE 6.0. All interfaces are supported by software drivers. With Visual Studio .NET (not included), applications can be programmed in C, C++, C# and Visual Basic.

Embedded Linux

The Linux Evaluation Board Support Package (BSP) is already supplied with the starterkit. This package supports all basic interfaces and even allows development on a Windows PC. The additionally available Professional BSP offers the full capacity of the PicoCOM2 and development integration into the Eclipse IDE.
