Nowadays in times of esthetic and functional screen layouts, well known by users of mobile phones and organizers, people are expecting an informative and attractive graphic display layout on their heating or machine controls, instead of just a simple text display. The use of proportional fonts and graphical elements, like animated icons, cause very high development costs, and require a costly micro controller with more memory and processing speed to satisfy the additional requirements for the LCD control. Using the iLCD product family dramatically cuts the development costs on one hand, on the other hand, you can still use a low cost micro controller or any SPS, as all required fonts, static and animated graphics, text templates and macros can be easily stored to the flash memory of the iLCD Controller via the iLCD Manager XE, Demmel free setup and management software. Even complex screen layouts can be controlled by sending a few bytes then.

Display control with iLCD

The comfortable and easy to learn command set enables you to fully control demmel product's whole range of iLCDs - from 2.8" up to 10.2". All graphics, fonts and text templates can be stored to the iLCD panel's flash memory via the free iLCD Manager XE, prior to its use by your controlling hardware. More than 240 commands allow you to carry out any task quickly and easily:

Select any fixed or proportional font; choose bold, underline or inverse attribute, control paragraphs with word-wrap, vertical and/or horizontal alignment, full ANSI support; output text templates that are stored in the iLCD Controller's flash memory.
Draw lines and rectangles, even with dotted or chain dotted lines, draw circles and frames with rounded corners and shadows, fill selected areas with freely definable tiling patterns, or erase areas, use high-level functions to give selected objects a 3D-appearance by means of color gradients or use low-level functions like setting/clearing pixels.
Paint any graphic stored in the iLCD Controller to any position, control up to 8 animated graphics per screen without sending any bytes after starting.
Store complete LCD screens to the RAM of the iLCD Controller, modify these stored images, output stored images to any position.
You may define up to 64 touch fields with any layout and behavior. Pressing/releasing a touch field will be reported to the application.

I/O Ports

In addition to the display control, the iLCD Controllers carry out all necessary I/O based tasks, thus allowing for further simplification of your hardware design:

  • Keyboard matrix scanning for up to 128 keys
  • Controlling of up to 16 outputs/LEDs (on/off/blink with user selectable blink frequency) and 16 inputs
  • Up to 4 ADC inputs for analog measurements
  • Fully customizable assignments of inputs, outputs and keyboard columns
  • Controlling of 2 relays
  • Alternative to the relays: PWM outputs (e.g. for speaker or buzzer)
  • Adjustable watchdog for controlling your hardware
  • ATX power supply control
  • Touchscreen control
  • Up to 512 Byte EEPROM emulation for user data
  • MicroSD card control
  • Real-time clock with battery backup

iLCD - Communication Ports

The iLCD Controllers are equipped with communication ports as follows:

  • USB
  • Ethernet 10/100/1000 Mbit/s via optional TCP/IP interface board
  • Serial RS-232, RS-422 o RS485 (300 ... 460800 baud)
  • I²C Port (bit rate up to 400 kHz)
  • SPI

Communication ports can be changed during operations: the iLCD Controller will send automatic response to the last port used. The setting can be either serial or USB.
